FAQ
Now, if you’re not happy with your front teeth because they’ve been stained by medication, rotted by sugary beverages, ruined by fillings, injured, chipped or damaged by root-canal procedures, dental veneers are ideal for masking these flaws. If you have gaps between your front teeth, or your teeth are chipped, worn, cracked, crooked or uneven, you may also consider veneers for aesthetic corrections.
An excellent alternative to crowns in these situations, veneers are an ideal choice to conceal discolouration and have beautiful white teeth almost permanently. The ceramic or composite shells are bonded to the front of the teeth and the procedure requires little or no anaesthesia. Dental veneer solves such irregularities and creates a durable and pleasing smile.
You may need a few appointments to complete the entire procedure, beginning with an initial diagnosis to treatment planning, preparation and bonding. In general, a small amount of tooth structure will be removed to make room for the veneers. The dental lab then fabricates the veneers from impressions. After placement, the veneers will look very much like natural teeth. Generally, we will require 9-10 working days to complete ceramic veneer procedure, whereby you require 3-5 visits to our centre. Express options are available for those with time limitation subject to complexity of your dental procedure.
STEP 1
Send us an enquiry with a clear photo of front and side view of your tooth (while Smiling and saying the Alphabet E) and/or any recent X-Ray (OPG), if you do have it (optional). We will then obtain preliminary clinical treatment plan and costing from our dental professionals.
STEP 2
Scheduling for your first visit – our dentist will consult, examine and prepare tooth modelling (wax-up). It’s very important to spend time in the planning of your smile and understand the corrective limitations of the procedure before going ahead with dental veneers.
STEP 3
Once you’ve been assessed as a suitable candidate, our dentist will prepare your front surface of your teeth to accommodate the veneers with simple roughening or reshaping. To prepare for veneers, your teeth will be lightly buffed to allow for the minor added thickness of the veneer. About half a millimetre of your tooth will be removed, and this procedure might sometimes require a local anaesthetic. Once your teeth are prepared, a precise impression will be taken of your teeth. This will be used to fabricate your personal porcelain veneers so they fit securely to the tooth surface. You will be provided with a temporary veneer for duration of a week to 10 days.
STEP 4
On your next visit, your custom-made porcelain veneers will be available for your inspection. When the dentist places the veneer onto the tooth, they will check its fit and sense of shade and colour, at this point you need to view the results and ensure that this is the colour that you’re comfortable with. Following in which our dentist will carefully bond and sculpt the ceramic veneer onto your existing tooth, leaving you with a bright, white, youthful looking smile that you desire.
STEP 5 (OPTIONAL)
Additional visit(s) will be only required if you need further alteration and modification to the ceramic veneer prepared earlier. This is where you should pay attention as the colour/shape of the veneer cannot be altered after it is cemented.
You might go through a period of fine-tuning and adjustment for about a week or two as you become accustomed to your veneers. They will have significantly improved your teeth in size and shape. You should continue with a good dental routine with brushing and flossing daily after procedure. Some advantages of porcelain veneers over bonding include increased longevity, and resistance to staining. When a veneer procedure is properly performed and good oral care is taken going forward, they will generally last up to 10 years of more.
